TE KĀPEHU AUAHA

Te Kāpehu Auaha began with  collaborative ways of seeing — woven together through shared intention.

The connection formed through kōrero, through time and movement, through the act of standing together and looking toward the same horizon.

One voice spoke through narrative.
Another through tohu — the signs carried in sky, land, and sea.

Different expressions — yet guided by the same understanding.

Through alignment with tohu and the presence of kaitaki, the path reveals itself — not as separate threads, but as one continuous line of knowing.

From that recognition, Te Kāpehu Auaha emerged.

Ngā Kaitiaki

The Guidance

“Mai i te moana ki te rangi,

ki te wheiao ki te ao mārama.”

Te Kāpehu Auaha is encapsulated by two kaitiaki centered in the tohu.

The whai of the moana — grounded and intuitive.
The
manu of the rangi — watchful and far-seeing.

Together, they form whaimanu
a balance of ocean and sky.

This balance sits at the centre of Te Kāpehu Auaha, and is something we continue to learn from.

Ngā Kaupapa

The Way

Te Kāpehu Auaha is guided by:

  • Tohu — noticing what is there
  • Taiao — connecting to the world around us
  • Taonga — creating with care and meaning

Grounded in koha.

A commitment to give back, to acknowledge others, and to ensure our work contributes to community and social good.

It is a way of working that others can step into — by paying attention, connecting, and creating with intention.

Ngā Taonga

The Expression

In collaboration with our good friends at KP Hūmarie Designs, a collection of taonga were created as signature koha on the journey to key kaupapa such as FESTPAC, Hokule'a 50th Anniversary, Imaginative & Māorilands Film Festivals.

Rose Gold
for those who carry the legacy of traditional waka navigation.

Gold
for Indigenous storytellers shaping the future.

Silver
for the next generation finding their way.

These taonga are special acknowledgements — given with aroha, held with purpose.

Te Kāpehu Auaha continues in this way in creating content & supporting kaupapa with heart.

This is not a fixed path.
It is something to continuously read, learn and grow together.
