The Star and The Navigator follows the journey of Mata, a skilled navigator, and Riria, a gifted artist, who reunite and realise their love has withstood the test of time. However, fate threatens to separate them once more as Riria is set to leave for another journey.

A short filmmaking collective developed under the Aotearoa New Zealand indigenous representative organisation, Ngā Aho Whakaari Māori In Screen.

Started in 2013, the programme has supported Māori filmmakers to elevate their skills and share their short stories to the world.
